Backing opposition’s protests, ruling NC ally Congress today asked the Jammu and Kashmir government to immediately tackle the growing power crisis in the state.
“There is need for the state-government to tackle the
rising power failures in Jammu immediately,” senior Congress
leader Mula Ram told at a public meeting of party workers.
Ram,a former minister, said the state government should
ensure regular supply of power by installing more transformers.
“There should be regular and uninterrupted supply of power
to all water supply sources located in the area so that there
is no shortage of drinking water,” he said.
Meanwhile, activists of J&K’s Socialist Democratic Party
(SDP) today held protests in the city against growing power
cuts and demanded smooth and uninterrupted electricity supply.
“The unchecked electricity shutdown and water scarcity has
put the common man to innumerable trouble in Jammu this
summer,” SDP Provincial President Sham Bhagat said.
