MLA daughter’s kidnap: 5 remanded to police custody

The five persons,arrested in connection with the abduction of Shruthi,daughter of Kerala MLA C H Kunhambu,have been remanded to the interim custody of police by a local court.

The five persons,arrested in connection with the abduction of Shruthi,daughter of Kerala MLA C H Kunhambu,have been remanded to the interim custody of police by a local court.

The arrested have been identified as Rajesh,a time-keeper of private buses,Ranjith,a mechanic,Arvind Das,bus driver,Satish,bus conductor and Prakash,a friend of Rajesh,police said.

Prakash hails from Mangalore while the others belong to neighbouring Kasaragod in Kerala,they said.

Police are questioning them to find out if they belong to or associated with any outfit. The reason behind the abduction and assault was also yet to be ascertained,they said.

The arrested would be produced in court tomorrow,police said.

Shruthi and her friend’s brother Shabeeb were abducted by suspected Ram Sene activists and assaulted for talking to each other in a bus last Friday and later released.
