A man hacked six members of his family, including his parents, to death with a sword in Pilkhana village of Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh, Thursday. He was arrested from the entrance of his parents house. The blood-stained sword allegedly used for the murders was recovered.

Momin allegedly killed his 85-year-old father Mausam, who owns a brick kiln in the village, his mother Asgari, his elder brother Shaukeen, Shaukeen’s wife Shanno and their sons.

Alok Sharma, IG, Meerut, said: “Prima facie a property dispute seems to be the  reason behind the carnage but we still are probing the incident to find the real cause”.

Police said Momin had been fighting with his father for many years to get his share in the family’s property, but his father Mausam was unwilling to divide the family. Mausam had divested his son from his share of the family property by issuing classified ads in the local newspapers.
