Thakur Dilip Singh, elder brother of Satguru Uday Singh — the new chief of Namdhari sect — on Thursday announced that he was leaving Dera Jiwan Nagar in Sirsa and asked the Bhaini Sahib Management to acquire the same. Dilip Singh had shifted to Jiwan Nagar some years ago after he was turned out of Bhaini Sahib. Later,he was also denied entry to Bhaini Sahib.

Dilip Singh was stated to be the successor of the Namdhari sect after the death of Satguru Jagjit Singh, but Mata Chand Kaur (wife of the late Satguru) named Uday Singh as the next Satguru. Ever since, the devotees had been divided between Jiwan Nagar and Bhaini Sahib.

Dilip Singh said he has left the dera and told Mata Chand Kaur that he wants unity in the Panth and thus, does not want any property in his name. For the time being,he plans to take part in religious progrrames in different areas and hence,is yet to take a call on his new dera, said sources.

“Thakur Dilip has made an appeal for unity in the Panth and left Jiwan Nagar Dera. He is yet to decide where to have his next dera,” International Namdhari Samaj’s Gurmeet Singh said. Meanwhile,in a religious programme organised by Dilip Singh in Dasuya, three branches of Namdharis came together after 50 years. These included Sant Satnam Singh Pipli and Sant Harpreet Singh Sahmbi.
