Clinton to visit midday meal kitchen in Jaipur

On Thursday, Clinton will visit a school and community centre in Lucknow.

Former US President Bill Clinton is slated to visit one of India’s largest kitchens that prepares midday meals for schools during his visit to Jaipur Wednesday. The kitchen, run by the NGO Akshay Patra, caters to 2.5 lakh schoolchildren in and around Jaipur, 25,000 children of anganwadi workers and 4,000 daily wage labourers.

At the kitchen, Clinton will be shown the equipment that prepares 3 lakh rotis in two hours along with large quantity of curries and dal, while maintaining hygiene standards. After seeing the kitchen in Jagatpura on Wednesday morning, Clinton will visit a government school.

On Thursday, Clinton will visit a school and community centre in Lucknow, according to an itinerary released by the Clinton Foundation. Clinton, who is on a trip to the Asia-Pacific region from July 16 to 23 as part of his work for the Clinton Foundation, will also visit Vietnam, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and Australia.
