On a day the CAG report indicted the Punjab government for not incurring any expenditure on several central schemes releasing nil amount for others,Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal claimed that the Centre forced Punjab to impose property tax as it (Centre) refused to release grants unless this tax was imposed.
He also ruled out any rollback of this tax, which is to be implemented in Punjab from April 1. It may be mentioned that PPCC chief Partap Singh Bajwa had recently told his party workers to oppose the imposition of this tax.
Talking about Bajwa, the Deputy CM said,Like his predecessor,Capt Amarinder Singh,he too has opted for destructive politics by asking Congress MLAs not to go to the ministers for getting their works done. Thus he is forcing Congress MLAs not to get any development done in their constituencies.
Industrial policy
The new industrial policy will come out by the end of this month and will have schemes for textile,IT,electronics and much more. Even the real estate policy will be released soon,Sukhbir said.
Cong Boycott
Condemning the ruckus in the Assembly,Sukhbir said that the sole agenda of the Congress is confrontation politics. They are not ready to apologize and are not even admitting that they were wrong, he said, adding that the Congress plans to sit in the Opposition for another 25 years and hence is continuing with destructive behaviour.
Early LS polls
Sukbhir said early elections to the Lok Sabha were inevitable after the DMK withdrew its support to the Congress-led UPA government at Centre. With the DMK withdrawing support to the UPA and Mulayam Singh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party breathing down its neck, early polls to the Lok Sabha are inevitable, he said, adding,The government is in ICU and day-to-day supply of oxygen cylinders cannot keep this brain dead government alive for long.
He said SAD and BJP are fully prepared for early Lok Sabha elections and have started the exercise of energising their cadres for the coming electoral challenge.
