BJP objects to Pak’s order on Gilgit-Baltistan

Taking exception to Pakistan’s recent announcement of 'full internal autonomy' to its northern areas renamed as Gilgit-Baltistan,the BJP in J-K said the Centre should treat this move as a 'challenge' to India’s integrity.

Taking exception to Pakistan’s recent announcement of “full internal autonomy” to its northern areas renamed as Gilgit-Baltistan,the BJP in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday said the Centre should treat this move as a “challenge” to India’s integrity.

“Gilgit-Baltistan are part of Jammu and Kashmir and the claim over this portion is also recognized by UN,” Pradesh BJP spokesperson Ramesh Arora told reporters in Jammu.

Referring to the Gilgit-Baltistan Empowerment and Self Governance Order 2009 unveiled by Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s on August 30 that gives the areas rights akin to those of Pakistan’s four provinces,Arora said the state government should lodge a strong protest over this.
