A DAY after Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) spokesperson Anant Gadgil indirectly slammed MP Suresh Kalmadi, saying the party’s Lok Sabha candidate for Pune was yet to be decided,Kalmadi’s rival and member of legislative council (MLC) Mohan Joshi also staked claim to the seat on Sunday.
At a meeting of Joshi’s supporters,Kalmadi was criticised for self-proclaiming his candidature for the next LS polls.
It was decided that if the Congress wanted to survive in the city,Kalmadi should not be given ticket. Instead Joshi should be picked up.
A recommendation to this effect would be forwarded to the MPCC. Three days ago,Kalmadi had taken out a Samvad Yatra in some of the slum areas of the city.
However, former city mayor Shantilal Suratwala has criticised Gadgil for not being competent enough.
Suratwala has requested state party president Manikrao Thakare to direct Gadgil not to hold any press conference or issue a press release in Pune.
Joshi also came in for brickbats.
