7,112 vehicle owners fined for use of tinted glass in Jammu

J-K High Court had earlier pulled the state traffic police for its inability to implement the apex court order.

In accordance with the Jammu and Kashmir High Court’s directive,the state traffic police have fined 7,112 vehicle owners for the use of tinted glass in Jammu.

“In the ongoing drive against the use of tinted films,7,112 vehicles including 30 government vehicles have been issued challan during the past three and a half months in the district,” Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic),Jammu city,Manmohan Singh said today.

In addition,82 vehicles including four government vehicles were impounded for the use of black films,he said.

The traffic official said the list of impounded vehicles include 60 Light Motor Vehicles,15 mini buses,four buses,two tempos and a truck.

J-K High Court had earlier pulled the state traffic police for its inability to implement the apex court order of removing the black films from vehicles.

The High Court had ordered the IG,Traffic,to issue notices in newspapers informing public to comply with Supreme Court directions by or before August 20.
