Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave his second interview to an Indian television news channel after assuming office in 2014 on Friday. In a free-wheeling chat, Modi spoke to Network 18’s Group Editor Rahul Joshi on a wide range of issues, including the the recent unrest in Kashmir, the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections and Dalit vote bank politics.
Speaking on “politics of Vendetta”, Modi denied that his government has targeted any political dynasty. He also spoke about his time as chief minister in Gujarat, saying that he never misused the state machinery for political gains.
PM Modi also acknowledged how media has played a big role in his political career. “Whatever I am today, media played a big role in that,” he said in the interview. This was his first acknowledgement of media’s role in his political life. PM Modi has shared a rather uneasy relationship with the national media ever since he became chief minister of Gujarat in 2001. He has often accused the media of running a campaign against him.
