A SPECIAL National Investigation Agency (NIA) court on Monday sent 12 persons suspected to have links with the Islamic State (IS) to NIA custody till February 5.

Special NIA Judge Amar Nath admitted the agency’s plea to interrogate the 12 terror suspects arrested from across the country. The NIA had submitted to the court that their custodial interrogation was required to unearth the alleged conspiracy of the IS to spread its reach in India.

“During preliminary interrogation, all the accused persons disclosed many facts about their involvement in this case, about recruiting and financing persons willing to join caliphate of IS at Syria,” the NIA remand plea said. It said the accused were regularly in touch with IS members in Syria through internet.
