Less than two months after he was arrested on charges of molestation levelled against him by a 35-year-old woman, AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan has been booked again on the same charge, this time on a complaint lodged by a relative, said sources.
DCP (southeast) Mandeep Singh Randhawa said Saturday a case was registered against the MLA under sections 354 (molestation), 506 (criminal intimidation), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 498A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). “We are investigating the case,” he added.
Khan said he was innocent and being unfairly targeted. In July, police had arrested him on charges of threatening a woman with rape and murder. Police said Khan had allegedly also attempted to run over the woman. A case had been registered then against him under sections 506, 509 of the IPC at Jamia Nagar police station. Four days after Khan was arrested in the case, the Delhi sessions court granted bail to him. The court also rapped the police, who had told the court the complainant was being “pressured to retract her statement”. The court pointed out that the woman, in her complaint, had not said it was Khan who threatened her.
