Jharkhand, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to receive isolated heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph today, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated. Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Konkan, Goa, Maharashtra, and Gujarat. The wet weather conditions will also prevail over Northeast India over the next 7 days.

South India: Light to moderate rainfall are likely over Kerala & Mahe, Lakshadweep and coastal Karnataka on Saturday. Isolated to scattered rainfall accompanied with isolated thunderstorms, lightning over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana and interior Karnataka are also likely today. However, hot and humid weather is very likely at isolated places over Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.

Delhi Weather: A thunderstorm is likely in Delhi on Saturday night with the maximum temperature expected to settle around 35 degrees Celsius, the IMD stated in its forecast. The national capital recorded a minimum temperature of 26.8 degrees Celsius, a notch below the season’s average, the weather agency said.

IMD Weather Today Live Updates: Rain triggers landslides at several places in Himachal; orange alert issued

The first spell of Southwest monsoon which reached Himachal Pradesh on Friday triggered landslides at several places.

Traffic on the Dharmshala-Chataro-Gaggal road was halted due to a landslide, and officials are currently engaged in road-clearing operations, officials said. Reports also emerged of water logging at the Shahid Inder Singh Middle School in Pandoh, which caused inconvenience for students.

The local Met office has issued an orange warning for heavy to very heavy rains at isolated places on June 22, 23, 25 and 26.

Some parts of Shimla witnessed power outages along with landslide with many roads getting blocked in Kangra district. In Shimla, power outages were reported in several areas, with residents complaining of no electricity for the past 10 hours as of Friday morning.

India Weather Forecast Today Live News Updates: Monsoon set to intensify, yellow alert for heavy rainfall issued in Punjab, Haryana

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a “yellow alert” for heavy rainfall across Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh for the next five days, starting June 19, as the southwest monsoon is set to make a significant advancement in the coming days, with a marked increase in rainfall activity expected between June 20 and 23.

As of June 19, the southwest monsoon has further advanced in most parts of Bihar and additional regions of eastern Uttar Pradesh, while the northern limit of the monsoon (NLM) is passing through Barmer, Jodhpur, Jaipur, Gwalior, Khajuraho, Sonbhadra, Ballia, and extends northeast up to 30.5°N/81.5°E, the weather office says.

Weather conditions remain favourable for the continued progression of the monsoon over the remaining parts of the North Arabian Sea as well as more areas of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir over the next 2-3 days, the IMD says.
