While Marathwada’s eight districts together comprise the largest region still recording less rain than the average for this time of the year, it is Solapur in western Maharashtra with the largest monsoon deficit of 47 per cent.
Last year Kodagu district was devastated by flood and landslides during the rainy season. As per the predictions by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on heavy rain in the district, an orange alert has been declared in Kodagu on August 6 and red alert from August 7 to 10.
