Union Home Minister Amit Shah Sunday spoke to Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel and took stock of the flood-like situation in Junagadh and other parts of the state triggered by heavy rainfall.

Ample numbers of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are available to help the people in need, Shah said in a tweet following his discussion with both Patel and Lieutenant Governor of Delhi V K Saxena.

A total of nine teams of the NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) and the SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) have been deployed in districts affected by heavy rains. Two teams each of NDRF and SDRF are carrying out rescue and relief operations in Junagadh.

Junagadh which received about nine inches of rain between 10 am to 4 pm Saturday is one among the worst-hit places after a flash flood wreaked havoc in the city.

A total of 736 people were evacuated to safer locations, and around 358 were rescued from across the state, Gujarat Relief Commissioner Alok Pandey said in a statement released Saturday.

CM Bhupendra Patel also conducted a review meeting at the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) in Gandhinagar where he interacted with the district chiefs after his attempts to reach Junagadh to review the situation in person proved futile.

The CM also conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas of Sutrapada, Mangrol and Gir Somnath on Saturday.
