Advocate booked for using ‘fake’ law degree

A case has been registered against lawyer for allegedly using "fake" LLB degree and getting practice licence.

A case has been registered against a lawyer for allegedly using a “fake” LLB degree and getting a licence to practice on its basis.

A complaint against Ashok Kumar was received from the Chief Vigilance Officer,Chandigarh Administration,in the local police station (Vigilance) and a regular vigilance inquiry was ordered,police said today.

In the course of investigation,the LLB degree of Kumar was verified from the Controller of Examination,Lucknow University,and it turned out to be fake,they said.

The advocate had registered his fake degree with the High Court Bar Council here and obtained a licence to practise as an advocate.

Police said Kumar had been practising as advocate here for for the past few months.

A case under various sections of the IPC has been registered against him here,police said.
