Chhath Puja 2025: Patna district administration issues advisory, releases list of dangerous and unsuitable ghats

Ahead of Chhath Puja 2025, the Patna district administration has released a table of amenities for devotees along with the lists of dangerous and unsuitable ghats for rituals.

The district administration has declared six ghats dangerous for Chhath Puja: Kantahi Ghat, Rajapur Pul Ghat, Pehalwan Ghat, Bans Ghat, Buddha Ghat and Naya Panchmukhi Chowraha Ghat.

The ghats unsuitable for ritual are TN Banerjee Ghat, Mishri Ghat, Judges Ghat, Adalat Ghat and Gulabi Ghat.

“These ghats have been marked in red and magistrates and police officers have been deployed. For public safety, the Patna District Administration urges people to avoid these dangerous ghats,” the district administration wrote on X.

Amenities in Patna for Chhath Puja

Civic authorities have arranged facilities at river ghats in urban areas for devotees, including 552 temporary toilets, 450 urinals, 185 water taps, 50 water tankers. 37 hand pumps have been set up, along with 20 units equipped with submersible motors and PVC tanks.

Four hundred temporary changing rooms, 13 passenger sheds, 112 control rooms, 13 auxiliary control rooms, and 171 watch towers have also been established to ensure convenience and safety.


In all the remaining subdivisions also, civic amenities have been made available at all Chhath ghats under the supervision of subdivisional officers, the administration noted.

In the Patna Municipal Corporation area, there are approximately 102 ghats, 45 parks, and 63 ponds along the Ganges River.

Chhath Puja traffic advisory and parking

Police have been directed to ensure proper traffic management on the JP Gangapath, and the district administration has issued an advisory for the convenience and safety of pilgrims using the ghats around Digha-JP Gangapath-Collectorate-Mahendru.

Parking facilities have been provided as close as possible to the Ghats at 93, 88, and 83 ghats; at the JP Setu end of the southern lane above Patali Path; on the Ramjichak Railway Overbridge near the JP Setu end; between pillars 1 and 2 below JP Setu; and at Gandhi Maidan.

Underpasses available for Chhath

People coming by vehicle from Atal Path towards JP Gangapath will have to walk more while going from the designated parking space towards the ghat. Hence, authorities have advised devotees to reach the Chhath Ghats directly through wide underpasses available.

Forces deployed for Chhat Puja

According to the disaster management standard operating procedures, nine National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams with 277 members, nine National Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams with 36 members, 444 divers, 323 boatmen, and 149 Civil Defence volunteers will be deployed to deal with any disaster. River patrolling will also be conducted.

Boat operations are prohibited and strict punitive action will be taken against illegal operations.

Dedicated to worshipping the Sun God, Surya Dev, and Chhathi Maiya, the four-day festival will be celebrated from October 25 to 28 this year.
