In a fresh case of violence, a group of kanwarias was caught on camera attacking a police vehicle in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday morning — hours after some kanwarias had vandalised a car in Delhi on Tuesday.
A video of the incident shows around 50-60 kanwarias attacking the police vehicle, smashing the windows and a police officer trying to control the crowd in the Bugrasi Narsena police station area of Bulandshahr. Police had reached the area after reports of a clash between two groups.
“There was a clash between a person identified as Pappu, who lives in the locality at his maternal uncle’s place, and another group over personal enmity. In the clash, he called his kanwaria friends to help him out. As soon as a police team reached the spot, they all attacked the vehicle as well the policemen,” said station officer (SO) at the Bugrasi Narsena police station, Anil Kumar.
The station officer told The Indian Express that an FIR was registered against eight identified men, including Pappu, and 50 unidentified men who vandalised the vehicle.
Investigations are underway and the police are on a lookout for the accused.
On Tuesday, a group of kanwarias had vandalised and turned a car over in a Delhi locality, bringing the traffic to a halt. “The car had accidentally brushed past a kanwaria”, the police said. Even as the incident was recorded on video, the police registered an FIR against “unknown persons”.
