Tuhin Kanta Pandey Educational Qualification: The Union government on Thursday appointed Finance and Revenue Secretary Tuhin Kanta Pandey as the chairman of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). He is replacing Madhabi Puri Buch and is now the 11th chairman of the Board. Pandey is a 1987 batch IAS officer of Odisha cadre.
Born in 1965, Tuhin Kanta Pandey did his masters in Economics from Panjab University, Chandigarh, followed by an MBA from the University of Birmingham (UK). Former Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh did his masters in the same subject from Panjab University.
After cracking UPSC, he worked in various capacities, starting as the collector and district magistrate of Sambalpur district. He was also deputed to the regional office of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation.

Panjab University achieved several notable rankings in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024. It placed 60th in the overall category and 35th in the research category. In the universities category, it ranked 38th. Additionally, Panjab University secured the 7th position in the pharmacy category and 27th in the dental category.
