JEE Mains 2025 Session 2 Registration Updates: JEE Main April application begins at jeemain.nta.nic.in

Getting into IIT wasn’t easy. I first appeared for the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) in 2023 and secured an AIR of 2451. It was not enough to get me a seat. But I did not lose hope. I prepared rigorously, using online resources, and appeared again in 2024. This time, I achieved an AIR of 336, finally securing my spot at IIT Hyderabad.

I come from a humble background. My father, now an assistant administrative officer at the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), worked as a normal worker in the Corporation for 17 years, earning just Rs 6,000 a month. Back then, life was challenging. There were days when I could not enjoy the simple joys of visiting the market or eating outside food. My father struggled to pay my tuition fees, but he never let me give up on my studies. But now, when I look back, I feel proud to have faced those struggles that made me who I am today.

The second session exam will be held between April 1 and 8. The JEE Main 2025 is held for two papers – paper 1 (BE/ BTech) and paper 2 (BArch and BPlanning).

My journey to IIT Bombay wasn’t easy, but it was fueled by my determination to succeed. I prepared for the JEE while attending Delhi Public School, balancing school life and coaching studies. My JEE preparation started in Class 11 where I joined a local coaching institute. The pressure was constant, but I remained focused, knowing that hard work and perseverance would ultimately pay off.

After months of preparation, I gave the JEE Advanced exam in 2024 and secured an all India rank of 2,956. It was a moment of pride and relief, knowing that my efforts had paid off. My JEE Main rank was 2,279.

Apart from the IITs, other Indian universities such as Delhi University (DU) and Anna University have made significant contributions to India’s representation in the QS Rankings. DU registered the highest jump this year, moving from the 521-530 range in 2023 to rank 328 in 2025, which showcases its rising global influence and academic strength. 

Anna University, which was earlier placed in the 801-1000 range, has rapidly advanced to rank 383 in 2025, underlining the institution’s growing focus on quality research and education. These improvements highlight the broader efforts of Indian universities to achieve global standards and attract international attention

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) have shown significant progress in the QS World University Rankings, with many institutions consistently improving their positions. IIT Bombay leads the pack, climbing from rank 172 in 2023 to 118 in 2025, demonstrating steady growth in its global reputation. IIT Delhi has also made remarkable strides, advancing from 197 in 2024 to 150 in 2025, reflecting its focus on research, innovation, and quality education.

For new candidates Session 2 of JEE (Main) 2025:

i Candidates can apply for JEE (Main) - 2025 Session 2 Online only through the website jeemain.nta.nic.in/. The Application Form in any other mode will not be accepted.

ii Only one application is to be submitted by a candidate. Under no circumstances, candidates will be allowed to fill more than one Application Form. Strict action will be taken, even at a later stage, against such candidates who have filled more than one Application Form.

iii Candidates must strictly follow the instructions given in the Information Bulletin and on the NTA website. Candidates not complying with the instructions shall be summarily disqualified.

iv Candidates must ensure that the e-mail address and Mobile Number provided in the Online Application Form are their own or their Parents’/Guardians’ only as all information/communication will be sent by NTA through e-mail on the registered e-mail address or SMS on the registered Mobile Number only.

Existing candidates i.e. candidates registered and applied for Session 1 of JEE (Main) – 2025 and wish to apply for JEE (Main) Session 2 also

Candidates are allowed to opt for the following:

i. Course (Paper)

ii. Medium of Question Paper

iii. Examination Cities as per the available options.

iv. Fee Paymen

The registration for the JEE Main 2025 session 2 exam begins today. The last date to apply for JEE Main 2025 April session exam is February 25 (9 pm). Applicants can register at the official website – jeemain.nta.nic.in. The fee payment window will close at 11:50 pm on February 25.

The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) has filed 152 Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in 2024. This milestone of the highest number of IPRs filed in a single year sees the institute sustain the increasing momentum for the fourth consecutive year, an Institute statement issued in this regard said.

With a total of 1200 IPRs filed to date, IIT Kanpur has also maintained its exceptional licensing rate to industry partners with around 12.91 per cent achieved in 2024, it added.

In an indication of the changing hiring trends from the Indian Institutes of Technology, at least four older IITs have seen a decline in their campus placement percentages in recent years, even as surveys indicate the number of students getting jobs independently may be on the rise.

The trends, based on data obtained by The Indian Express, come against the backdrop of a shifting tech landscape, global economic uncertainties, and an increasing number of IIT graduates competing in a dynamic job market.

Five of the seven first-generation IITs responded to The Indian Express’s request under the RTI Act for placement data spanning six years, from 2018-19 to 2023-24. IIT Madras and IIT Guwahati did not share details and instead referred to their annual reports.

Among the institutes that disclosed placement rates (the percentage of students receiving job offers) across undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programs, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, and IIT Roorkee recorded declines ranging from 5 to 16 percentage points (see chart).

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has announced the launch of a new programme on e-Postgraduate Diploma in E-mobility. The new programme will be of 18-months duration and will be starting in March 2025.

The ePG diploma programme is designed and delivered by IIT Bombay faculty with Great Learning as the EdTech partner. Upon successful completion, a graduation ceremony in the IIT Bombay campus will be held and participants will be conferred alumni status.

The five athletes admitted under ‘Sports Excellence Admission’ during the 2024-25 academic year are:

1. Arohi Bhave, (volleyball player) from Maharashtra – Admitted into BS (Medical Sciences and Engineering)

2. Aryaman Mandal (water polo and swimming) from West Bengal – Admitted into BTech (Computer Science and Engineering)

3. Nandini Jain (squash player) from Delhi – Admitted into BTech (Computer Science and Engineering)

4. Prabhav Gupta, (table tennis player) from Delhi – Admitted into B. Tech (Artificial Intelligence and Data Science)

5. Vangala Vedavachan Reddy (lawn tennis player) from Andhra Pradesh – Admitted into BTech (Artificial Intelligence and Data Science)

The spark to take the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) ignited during my school days, particularly when I began to grasp my interest in mathematics and science. I always enjoyed solving challenging problems, and JEE seemed like the ultimate platform to test my limits. Watching my father work on power electronics as a consultant and hearing him explain the intricacies of his field further piqued my curiosity about engineering. I wanted to follow in his footsteps, creating innovative solutions to real-world problems.

Being a physically challenged student, I knew the path wouldn’t be easy. Navigating school itself had its share of difficulties. While my school, New India School, had some basic accessibility features like a lift, they weren’t always fully functional or reliable. During my time at Suryadatta Public School, my mother often had to step in to ensure the lift worked so I could attend classes. This experience made me realise how crucial accessibility is and why institutions need to be more inclusive.

According to students who appeared in JEE Main and as per feedback received from experts, questions in all the JEE Main 2025 shifts held between January 22 and 29 covered almost all chapters of Class 11 and 12 NCERT textbooks. 

The paper held on the first day, January 22, has been considered moderate. Experts reviewed that the mathematics section was a bit challenging but overall the paper was balanced and could be completed within the stipulated time with proper preparation.

The JEE Main BTech, BE paper held on the second day of the January 2025 session on January 23 in two sessions was considered ‘moderate to difficult’ according to most candidates who appeared for the exam.

The JEE Main January 24 were analysed as easy to moderate. Among the three sections, Physics was the easiest, followed by Chemistry, while Mathematics was considered the most challenging due to lengthy calculations in some questions. 

Last year, the JEE Main provisional answer key was released on February 13.

Entry into NITs (National Institutes of Technology) and IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) requires thorough preparation as both are premier institutes and require high standards of education. However, the approach towards their admission process and entrance exams is quite different in so many ways, affecting a student’s preparation strategy.

There are a few resources available on the internet where free sample papers can be found for JEE Main including the NTA official website, SATHEE website and more.

The six older IITs including IIT Bombay, Madras, Delhi, Roorkee, Kanpur and Kharagpur — ranked the highest in domestic rankings — were missing from this year's rankings too as they had in 2020 boycotted the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings.

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-Madras) has admitted five athletes with national accomplishments under its ‘Sports Excellence Admission’ (SEA) category. These students have qualified JEE Advanced 2024 to secure admission in IIT-Madras.

1. A letter duly stamped and signed, from the Head of their Institution (Dean/Principal/Director), as per the format given in Form Withdrawn- certificate.

2. An affidavit duly stamped and attested by a notary public, on a nonjudicial stamp paper of Rs 10 as per the format given in Form Withdrawn- certificate. The affidavit should be of the candidate if she/he is more than 18 years of age. If the candidate is less than 18 years of age, the affidavit should be given by her/his parent or legal guardian.

3. Withdrawal letter/notification issued to the candidate from her/his college/ university/ institute.

NTA conducts JEE Main paper 1 for admission to engineering programmes (BE/BTech) at NITs, IIITs, other centrally funded technical institutions (CFTIs), and institutions and universities funded and recognided by participating state governments. Those who qualify JEE Main, they appear for JEE Advanced.

JEE Main paper 2 is conducted for admission to BArch and BPlanning courses in the country.

The aspirants are not allowed to fill more than one JEE Main application form. If in case they do so, than one JEE 2024 application number will be treated as UFM (Unfair Means), even if found at a later stage, and strict action will be taken against that candidate, NTA said.

v. Educational qualification details (Class 10 and Class 12).

vi. Fee payment

The JEE Main aspirants who have applied and paid the examination fee for January session and wish to appear for JEE Main 2025 session 2, they have to log in with their previous application number and password.

NTA will start the application process for JEE Main April session today, as per the brochure available on the official website. The second session exam will be held between April 1 and 8. Last year, it was held between April 4 and 15.
