Amid the suspense over the contender for Delhi CM post, some prominent newly elected BJP MLAs paid a visit to party president J P Nadda in Parliament on Tuesday. Former Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay, former leader of opposition in the Assembly Vijender Gupta and former Congress leader and now BJP MLA Arvinder Singh Lovely were among those who reached the House with bouquets. The “courtesy” meetings gained significance as the BJP leadership is in the process of selecting the Chief Minister and the council of ministers for the Capital.

Flavours Of India

UNION MINISTER of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying S P Singh Baghel hosted a group of NDA MPs over a dinner at his official residence on Tuesday. The group was led by Baghel’s senior in the ministry, Union Minister and senior JD(U) leader Rajiv Ranjan Singh,  and included former I&B Minister Anurag Singh Thakur and MPs from Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and J&K. It is learnt that the menu included popular dishes from various states such as sarson ka saag and makki ki roti from Punjab and khandvi and sweets from Gujarat.

Anger Management

Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar seems to be devising new ways of dealing with the din in the House. On Tuesday, amid a heated discussion on the Constitution between the treasury and opposition benches, Leader of the House J P Nadda asked Congress’s Jairam Ramesh as to why he was getting angry. To this, the Chairman immediately said that the Health Minister (Nadda) will explain why Ramesh is getting angry, much to the amusement of the protesting MPs. Dhankhar then asked the members to pause their exchange and join him in welcoming a parliamentary delegation from the Maldives. As requested, the MPs welcomed the delegation with the traditional thumping of the table, and in the next instant, the uproar resumed.
