Shalesh Jaiswar wins Rapid Chess tournament

Shailesh Jaiswar was declared the winner of the 45 th edition of the Every Sunday Rapid Chess Championship jointly organised by the Global Mind Sports Foundation and the Pune District Chess Association on Sunday.

Shailesh Jaiswar was declared the winner of the 45 th edition of the Every Sunday Rapid Chess Championship jointly organised by the Global Mind Sports Foundation and the Pune District Chess Association on Sunday. This was Jaiswar’s 12 th title victory.

This contest was a close one as there was a three-way tie between Jaiswar,Srinath Krishnamoorthy and Kiran Panditrao.

But Jaiswar edged past the two with a higher Buch score. Jaiswar scored 5 points and 16 buch and earned himself Rs 1,500 and a trophy,said a press note.

Srinath was close behind with 5 points and 15 buch and earned himself Rs 500 along with a trophy. Kiran Panditrao came in third,Sameer Kathmale came in fourth and Kapil Lohana occupied the fifth position.

The under-10 trophy went to Abhimanyu Puranik of Symbiosis School while the under-14 trophy went to Nikhil Dixit of Ramanbaug New English School.

The ladies’ trophy was given to Akanksha Hagawane of DES School while Prakash Karmarkar won the veterans’ trophy.

5. Aakanksha Hagawane (3) lost to Abhimanyu Puranik (4)
