Due to the warning of heavy rains by the Regional Meteorological Center, Pune district collector Dr. Suhas Diwase has ordered schools upto class 12th to declare a holiday on July 9.

This is being done in order to avoid any untoward incident due to heavy rains and to prevent emergency situations from affecting the school students.

However, the order also states that during this period, all principals, teachers and non-teaching staff should attend the school during office hours and carry out disaster management work as per the orders of the local administration.

The collector has also appealed to citizens to step out of the house only if necessary and to avoid tourism near waterfalls.
