Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Patangrao Kadam Sunday held a meeting with the divisional commissioner, district collectors, municipal commissioners and water resource department officials to discuss the water scarcity situation due to less rainfall.
Speaking about the water scarcity situation in the Pune city, Kadam said: “The officials tell me that there is 1.42 TMC water stored in the dams that supply water to the city. This storage is enough to provide water to the city at the current rate of 1125 MLD (Million Litres per Day) till August 8.”
He added: “Earlier, the meteorology department had predicted that rains would start from July 6. Now, they have revised the the prediction to July 11. Considering all this, the Pune district collector, the PMC commissioner and irrigation department officials will hold a meeting to review the water situation and decide if an additional water cut is needed to be imposed.”
