The ruling BJP in Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has roped in Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Yog Samiti for providing free online sessions on mental and physical fitness to local residents through yoga and ayurveda.

“The pandemic situation in the city is worrying. It is necessary to maintain proper mental health… through yoga,” said Mayor Murlidhar Mohol.

Mohol said 80 percent of active Covid-19 patients were in home isolation and the online sessions of Patanjali would help in improving their physical and mental health. “It will also help keep patients in a positive frame of mind and get rid of fear,” he said.

The initiative was launched on Thursday with Baba Ramdev joining through an online platform. “There is a need for positivity in Covid-19 patients and their relatives. The mental strength for it is easily achievable through yoga,” he said.
