Mother,son held for selling fake gold chain

The Khadki police have arrested a woman and her son for allegedly cheating a shopkeeper by trying to sell him a fake gold chain for Rs 3 lakh on Sunday.

The Khadki police have arrested a woman and her son for allegedly cheating a shopkeeper by trying to sell him a fake gold chain for Rs 3 lakh on Sunday.

The suspects have been identified as Radhaben Chimnaji Kumbharodh (55) and her son Babubhai (32),both natives of Pindwada in Rajasthan. Amar Subhash Wadhva (41),a resident of Juna Bazar,Khadki,lodged a complaint of cheating in the case.

Police said Wadhva operates from a shop named Amar Collection at the business center in Khadki Bazaar. Around 11.30 am,the two suspects approached Wadhva at his shop and said they wish to sell a 2 kg gold chain for Rs 3 lakh. They showed a fake gold chain to Wadhva and claimed that it was original. Wadhva,however,sensed something wrong and informed the police over phone. He then engaged the duo in a conversation till the police reached the spot. The police arrested the suspects under section 420,511,34 of Indian Penal Code.

“The investigation is on to find out if suspects have committed crimes in the past. We produced the duo in court and they have been remanded in police custody for two days,” said senior inspector Bhimrao Tele of Khadki police station.
