Police said the accused also visited the Income Tax Office and the Pune Police Commissionerate.

Recently, during a visit at the police commissionerate the accused allegedly claimed to be a batch mate of an IPS officer, who is currently posted as a deputy commissioner (DCP) with the Pune city police.

We have issued a notice to the accused, who is known to be a resident of Mumbai. He had been coming to Pune by posing as an IPS officer. Prima facie, it is learnt that he was booked in a similar offence of impersonation a few years before.”

Police suspect the accused was preparing for the competitive examinations in the past, but could not clear it. Police have booked the accused under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 204 (personating as public servant), 319 (2) (cheating by personation).
