As a concept store based in Delhi,Moon River has consistently aimed at reaching out to more people, offering classic style with a dash of modern design. The three-level store is known for sourcing products without affecting their sustainability. It has also earned its reputation by collaborating with local designers and artists. And if the latest addition is anything to go by,international designers are not off its radar either. The store has recently launched its international fashion floor with luxury labels such as Diane Von Furstenberg,Marni,Zadig and Voltaire,Carven,Osklen,MSGM and Laurence Dolige. Radhika Gupta, owner and curator of Moon River, says that the idea behind the floor is to create affordable luxury. Moon River has established itself as a designer-concept-store. Our policy is simple: always be new, fresh, surprising and streets ahead of the rest, she says.
It seems to be a month when Indian fashion designers are creating a buzz internationally. Recently,Delhi-based designer Manav Gangwani was in the news for designing the wedding outfits for Prince Rahim Aga Khan and his American supermodel bride,Kendra Spears. This was followed by a sighting of American actor Judi Dench at the Venice Film Festival in
an ivory chikankari floor-length dress by designer duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. The latest celebrity to be seen togged in an outfit by an Indian designer is Dannii Minogue. The Australian singer, songwriter and talent show judge chose a metallic-hued dress from designer Amit Aggarwals label Morphe,to pose for the cover of her new album,This Is It: The Very Best Of. Minogue looked arresting in the fitted outfit that combined chiffon and moulded metal stripes, true to the designers signature style.
Flash of the fortnight: Shraddha
Kapoor
In the fashionable milieu of the recently concluded Lakme Fashion Week,celebrity-spotting was natural. Among those who made us sit up and take notice was newcomer actor Shraddha Kapoor. The Ashiqui 2 star arrived for Sabyasachi Mukherjees show on the final day, dressed in a small floral print sari from the designers collection. Not only did she carry the drape well, she also kept her accessories subtle, choosing golden jhumkis and a demure clutch. The soft make-up and no-fuss tresses complemented her simple style.
