Activists seek court directive to lodge FIR against Bhide

Tushar Gandhi, the great grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, on Monday asked a court in Pune to issue directives to the police to lodge an FIR against Hindutva activist Sambhaji Bhide for allegedly making objectionable remarks about Mahatma Gandhi’s lineage.

On August 10, Tushar Gandhi, along with several activists from Pune, had lodged a complaint at the Deccan Gymkhana police station seeking registration of a criminal defamation case against Bhide.

On September 15, the activists moved court seeking investigation against Bhide.

Asim Sarode, lawyer representing Tushar Gandhi and other activists in the case, said, “We put our arguments before the judge A A Pande today (Monday). We have asked the court to direct the police to lodge an FIR against Bhide.”
