A seven-year-old girl who went missing on Sunday night was found murdered on the roof of a hotel where she, her father and other relatives had reached for a wedding reception. The body was found on Tuesday afternoon.
As per information given by Lonavala police, the girl’s body was found at Hotel Kumar Resort in Lonavala. She went missing around 8.30 pm on Sunday. Her body was found on the roof on Tuesday around 2.30 pm under the panels of a solar water heater. Police said her throat was slit.
Manojkumar Lohiya, superintendent of police (Pune Rural) said, “The marriage was in the afternoon on Sunday. In the night, during the reception, the girl’s father gave her food and went to get food for himself. He spent some time talking to other guests. When he returned to the place where he had left her, she could not be found.”

Lohiya added, “They informed police late in the night. Our teams registered a kidnapping case and began investigations.” As per a state home ministry circular, every case of missing child under 14 years is treated as a kidnapping case.
He said, “Our teams combed the area. The terrace was also searched. But her body was found under solar heater panels on Tuesday afternoon. Her throat was slit. Post mortem will ascertain other facts like time of death.” A senior cop said, “A medical examination will be conducted to find whether she was sexually assaulted.”
