With Bihar celebrating its formation day, President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and many others Wednesday extended their greeting to the people of the state.

In a tweet in Hindi, President Murmu said: “This glorious land (Bihar), associated with Lord Mahavir, Lord Buddha and Guru Gobind Singh Ji, is also the mother of democracy. I firmly believe that the hardworking and talented people of Bihar will write new stories of development and prosperity.”

Bihar was carved out of Bengal on March 22, 1912. Despite being one of the poorest states in the country, Bihar is home to some of the most ancient empires and its migrant population has played an important role in the economies of different states.

Lauding the people of the state for their commitment and hard work, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted: “Famous for its rich history and vibrant culture, the people of Bihar are making incomparable contributions in every field for the development of the country. The people of the state have made a distinct mark for themselves with their commitment and hard work.”

Extending his heartfelt greetings to the people of his state, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said: “The history of Bihar is glorious and we are currently preparing the glorious future of Bihar with our determination. I call upon all of you to participate in realizing the dream of a developed Bihar. Together we will increase the pride of Bihar.”

Pointing out that Bihar has been, since ancient times, the centre of India’s education and policies, Union Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted: “Under the leadership of Modi ji, we are determined to restore the prestige, prosperity and glory of this crown jewel of India. I wish for the continuous prosperity of the people of the state.”

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, meanwhile, exuded confidence that the state, which has a special identity in the country and abroad for its great cultural heritage and art-culture, will keep moving forward on the path of progress.

In a tweet in Hindi, state Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav said: “With our determination and public participation, we are preparing a golden future for the glorious past, rich heritage, origin place of various religions, birthplace of great men, mother of democracy, #बिहार of heroes, holy land of knowledge, harmony and harmony. Jai Hind, Jai Bihar!”

Sharing a picture of the ancient Nalanda University, former Congress president and MP Rahul Gandhi tweeted: “Bihar is the pride of India, which has always contributed significantly to the progress of the country with its knowledge and civilisation.”

Extending his greetings to the people of the state, BJP president JP Nadda tweeted: “Hearty congratulations and best wishes to all the people of the state on the foundation day of Bihar, the holy land of culture, spirituality, knowledge and bravery. The contribution of brothers and sisters of Bihar in the upliftment and prosperity of the nation is invaluable.”

“Birthplace of Democracy – Bihar is the land of Buddha, and Bihar is the land of knowledge. It was from Bihar itself that Gandhiji raised the voice of Indians against British rule. Hearty congratulations to all the residents of Bihar on Bihar Day. Hope you will continue to contribute to the progress of the country like always,” Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge wrote on the micro-blogging site.

Former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav also extended best wishes to the people and said: “It is our wish that our lovely glorious Bihar continues to move forward on the path of progress with peace, harmony and love.”
