Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut accused Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis of shifting mega infrastructure and other development projects to Gujarat from Maharashtra.

The fresh accusation has come as Maharashtra’s first submarine tourism project, initially scheduled for launch in the Sindhudurga district, is said to have been taken to Gujarat.

Shinde, however, clarified on Sunday that there is no plan or intention to relocate this project to Gujarat and termed it a rumour. “There is no such intention to shift any project to Gujarat. I urge people not to believe in rumours,” Shinde said.

Raut has alleged that since the formation of Shinde-led government in the state, as many as 17 mega projects have been shifted to Gujarat from Maharashtra and this has caused distress among businessmen of Mumbai. He alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is openly saying that for him, the developement of Gujarat is priority and then the country’s developement.

He also took a dig at Union minister Narayan Rane, saying that despite he being from Konkan and an Union minister he couldn’t avert the decision of shifting the project from Konkan. “He has no power. He should have announced that he would not allow the submarine project to be moved from Maharashtra,” Raut said.
