While Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Ajit Pawar’s wife Sunetra Pawar will be contesting from Baramati, his another relative will be the party candidate from Dharashiv seat in Marathwada. Archana Patil, wife of BJP MLA Rana Jagjitsinh Patil who is a nephew of Sunetra Pawar, joined the NCP on Thursday. Archana will be the NCP candidate from Dharashiv against Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Omraje Nimbalkar, her brother in law. Ultimately, irrespective of all political differences, it’s all in the family.
Denied ticket, upset Bhavana Gavali, MP from Yavatmal-Washim, chose to remain absent while the filing of nomination of the official Sena candidate Rajashri Patil. Gavali was insisting on LS ticket till the last moment but had to give up after the party decided to field the wife of Hingoli MP Hemant Patil. Gavali, who has been an MP for three terms now, is unlikely to keep quiet and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has a task to stop her from campaigning against the official candidate.
Chandrapur’s Lok Sabha candidate from Congress, Pratibha Dhanorkar, and party’s senior leader Vijay Wadettiwar seem to have buried the hatchet and have decided to work to win both Chandrapur and neighbouring Gadchiroli-Chimur. Wadettiwar’s daughter was interested in contesting while Dhanorkar had earlier launched an attack on him. Since the announcement of ticket, Dhanorkar had not even met him. Finally, a meeting between the two was held at Wadettiwar’s residence and everything seems to be on track now. Irrespective of differences, an electoral victory is what matters and both seem to be focusing on that.
