Maharashtra cabinet decisions: State nod for projects worth Rs 40,000 crore

The projects approved will come up in Pune, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), Nandurbar, Ahmednagar, Raigad and Navi Mumbai.

The Cabinet Sub-Committee, chaired by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, gave approval to projects worth Rs 40,000 crore in the state that are expected to generate 1.20 lakh job opportunities.

The projects approved will come up in Pune, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), Nandurbar, Ahmednagar, Raigad and Navi Mumbai.

The fifth meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee of Industries Department was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde at Sahyadri Guest House.

Among the projects approved are an electric vehicle and battery manufacturing project that will be set up in Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) by Gogoro India Pvt. Ltd with an investment of Rs 12,482 crore.

This will be the first such project in the country. The company will also be setting up 12,000 battery swapping stations across the state.

During the meeting, the gems and jewellery park project, which will come up at Mahape in Navi Mumbai, has been given the status of a mega project.

The India Jewellery Park is going to be built on about 21 acres of land in Mahape and around 1,354 industrial and commercial establishments will be opened in the park.

To develop integrated facilities for gems and jewellery sector entities in Maharashtra and to promote investment, production, employment, trade and exports, a total investment of Rs. 20,000 crore is expected in the park.

The park would generate 1 lakh jobs directly and indirectly through the project.
