Former President Dr Ram Nath Kovind will be the chief guest at the Shri Vijaya Dashami Utsav of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to be held at Reshimbagh Ground in Nagpur on October 2. RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat will also be present at the event.
This year’s celebrations hold special significance as the organisation marks the completion of 100 years since its founding on the Vijaya Dashami festival in 1925.
The occasion is observed with ‘Shastra Puja’ (worship of weapons). It is also the day when the RSS sarsanghchalak addresses swayamsevaks, outlining perspectives on national and cultural issues.
In the evening on Vijaya Dashami, the sarsanghchalak meets the volunteers, who present him with Apta (Shami) leaves, a Dussehra tradition that symbolises the exchange of ‘gold’ representing wealth, good fortune, and prosperity.
