Doctors at the suburban Lilavati hospital in Mumbai confirmed that former Maharashtra home minister RR Patil’s condition is stable.
However, the hospital was tight-lipped about the reasons for Patil’s admission citing patient confidentiality.
Patil, who is a leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is currently stable and will continue to be treated in the hospital for the next few days, a source from the hospital said.
NCP leader Nawab Malik also confirmed that Patil has been undergoing treatment at the hospital. “He has been admitted there for a month now,” Malik said.
Patil has been facing health issues for some time now. Last month, he was admitted to the city-based Bombay Hospital for undergoing an angiography after he suffered a cardiac arrest at his residence. His then-doctor, BK Goyal, said that no blockages were found in his heart during the surgery.
In November 2014, Patil had also undergone a minor surgery at Breach Candy hospital for dental issues. According to party sources, his cheeks were swollen and a surgery in gums and mouth had to be conducted.
