A fine show by man-of-the-match Deepak Chowgule helped Canara Bank (Banglore) emerge the new champions of the CAs Corporate T-20 Cricket Tournament. They defeated holders Air-India by six wickets in the final at the BKC ground,Bandra on Tuesday.
Chasing a moderate total of 139,Canara Bank achieved their target in the last over with three balls remaining. Opener Bharat Chipli (42 25b,1×6,8×4) and captain Deepak Chowgule (52 n.o. 39b,74) were the main rungetters. Left-arm spinner Ankit Chavan was the most successful bowler with 2-30 while seamer Mandeep Mangela and left-arm spinner Pushkaraj Chavan took a wicket each.
Earlier,holders Air-India won the toss and elected to bat,but just managed to reach 139 for 9 in stipulated overs. All-rounder Dinesh Salunke was the top scorer with 40 off 20 balls with two sixes and four hits to the ropes. Prashant Naik contributed 35 in 39 balls which had two fours while Mandeep Mungela chipped in with 14. No other batsman reached double figures. Medium pacer Mansur Ali Khan had remarkable figures of 4-0-16-4 and was the wrecker-in-chief.
