Technical advisor to chief minister visits under-construction indoor stadium

The stadium was proposed in 2003, and its construction started in 2007 and then stopped midway.

Technical advisor to the chief minister, V K Bhatt, visited the under-construction indoor stadium on Pakhowal road on Monday.

The visit was undertaken under the Tender Scrutiny Committee to finalise tenders for the second phase of work at the stadium which is estimated to cost Rs 40 crore.

The Finance and Contractual Committee (F&CC) of Ludhiana Municipal Corporation is yet to approve the second-phase budget of the stadium. A credit of Rs 6.5 crore has been taken from the Punjab sports department while the rest is being taken in the form of loan under HUDCO, an MC official told Newsline.

The stadium was proposed in 2003, and its construction started in 2007 and then stopped midway. It was finally restarted in 2011 and since then it has been lying incomplete.
