In yet another development of defection from one party to the other, former Akali minister Talib Singh Sandhu and social worker Darshan Arora joined the party on Saturday along with hundreds of their supporters.

AICC spokesperson and parliamentary candidate of the Congress party from the city,Manish Tewari along with office-bearers of the District Congress Committee and District Youth Congress welcomed them into the fray.

Speaking on the occasion,Sandhu said he was disillusioned with the Akalis as it was no longer a party of the panth, but a private enterprise of the Badals.

Darshan Arora, who is a prominent social worker associated with several social and cultural organisations in the city, said it was tragedy that Ludhiana never got the right representative in Parliament.

“With Tewari all set to represent us now,I am sure and certain about good times ahead,” Arora observed, while highlighting that only young and efficient people like Tewari deserve to lead the city.

Welcoming the leaders into Congress,Tewari promised to live up to the people’s expectations.

He also claimed that senior leaders from SAD and BJP where going to be inducted into the party soon.
