Bharatiya Janata Party state president Kamal Sharma and Local Bodies Minister Anil Joshi on Saturday evening met industrialists.

Bharatiya Janata Party state president Kamal Sharma and Local Bodies Minister Anil Joshi on Saturday evening met industrialists.

They also held a meeting of their Beopar Cell and released the desk calendar of the Federation of Industrial and Commercial Organisation (FICO) and the next year’s diary.

A delegation of industry under the chairmanship of FICO president Gurmeet Singh Kular said there was a very poor infrastructure of power supply. The government must ensure uninterrupted power supply to save the industries. He said the government must abolish the peak-load exemption charges.

Kular said the Punjab government had imposed property tax on every consumer, putting him into two categories: residential and commercial. “It is surprising that Punjab has major industries and no category of industry has been made. Commercial rates should not be taken from the industry,” he added.

Joshi said that in March 2014 they would create the industrial category and now one could deposit industrial property tax at the rate of 75% of commercial collector rate.
