Rash driving kills three youths in Lucknow

Three youths,including one Lucknow University student,were killed and three others received serious injuries in a road accident in Lucknow’s Krishna Nagar police station area on Tuesday evening when the car in which they were travelling toppled after hitting the road divider.

According to police,the incident took place on the VIP road near Azad Nagar Chauraha around 7 pm when six youths were coming from Barabirwa towards Lucknow cantonment in a Tata Safari.

Brijesh Singh,Circle Officer (Alambagh) said prima facie it has been found that the car was moving in high speed and the driver lost control over it. As a result,the car rammed into the divider and then toppled,he said. Singh said it had not been ascertained if the youths were in an inebriated condition.

The deceased have been identified as Aman Kumar (27),a resident of Mohanlalganj,Jitendra Singh (26),a resident of Barabanki,Adarsh Hansraj (27),a resident of Gosainganj area. Three others — Dharam Singh,Neeraj Yadav and Ashish Singh — suffered injuries and were admitted to the trauma centre at King George Medical University.

Krishna Nagar Station Officer Vijaymal Singh Yadav said Aman was a student of Lucknow University and the details of others were being collected. The Tata Safari had the flag of Samajwadi Party mounted on it. On the name plate of the car was written Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Foundation. The car also had the posters of upcoming students’ union elections pasted on it.
