In an attempt to strengthen his position in his parliamentary constituency of Amethi where people have begun complaining about his absence,Rahul Gandhi laid the foundation stone of a railway line and inaugurated two trains in the Salon area of his constituency Tuesday.
The Congress vice-president tried to convince people that he was doing his best for the constituency from Delhi even though he was unable to make frequent visits to Amethi.
“I feel sad. They have made me the party’s vice-president and I have to travel to different parts of the country, from Karnataka to Mumbai. Thus,I am not able to give time to Amethi the way I should. said Rahul.
But I must tell you that I get all my strength to work from here and I would assure you that Rahul Gandhi would do the best he can do for Amethi.
He reminded people that he shared a family relation with the region and how it was his father Rajiv Gandhi’s dream to provide better railway connectivity to the region.
Rahul laid the foundation stone of Unchahar-Salon-Amethi railway line and inaugurated Lucknow-Pratapgarh and Lucknow-Sultanpur trains in Salon.
He listed several infrastructure and development projects that has been sanctioned for Amethi in the recent past because of his efforts.
The amount of work that Railways has done in Amethi and Rae Bareli that much they have not done in any part of the country, said Rahul much to the embarrassment of Union Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge who was also present there.
Projecting the Food Security Scheme as the next big project after MGNREGA,Rahul said,There is a government in Delhi and we know that railway line, airport or road alone would not be able to pull the poor out of poverty. We earlier came out with MGNREGA and now we have the Food Security Scheme. People of this country would not sleep hungry.
He also reminded people of his recent efforts to bring the Food Processing Park in the region as well. The potato crop grown by you here would now be able to go outside the country, right from Fursatganj. he said.
About the two new trains,he said potato farmers, mint growers and women would benefit the most and instead of spending Rs 4000,they can now reach Lucknow for just Rs 30-40.
NO ATTACK ON OPPN
Rahul Gandhi avoided any attack on the Samajwadi Party-led state government or BJP in his public meeting in Amethi on Tuesday despite the fact that just few days back Congress had taken out a massive protest in the state.
