Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday alleged that the Congress and the Samajwadi Party have long conspired against patriots and falsely implicated innocent Hindus, while shielding real terrorists.

Addressing a gathering during the foundation stone-laying ceremony of Integrated Township project worth Rs 2,517 crore under the Chief Minister Urban Expansion/New City Promotion Scheme in Meerut, Adityanath said, “Today, these very parties are questioning the credibility of the country’s constitutional institutions. Will the Congress ever apologise to the nation for its misdeeds?”

The politics of the two parties has long been centered around casteism, communal riots, and appeasement of the mafia, the Chief Minister claimed.

He said Meerut, once known for its ‘Chor Bazaar’ (market where stolen goods are sold), is now gaining international recognition for its sports goods industry, due to initiatives like Rapid Rail, 12-lane Expressway and the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme.

“The country’s first sports university, named after Major Dhyan Chand, is coming up in Meerut. Also, the country’s largest expressway connecting Meerut to Prayagraj will be completed by year-end, reducing the travel time to Lucknow to just six hours,” he said.

Announcing development projects like the reconstruction of inner ring road and a new circuit house, the CM took a dig at the two parties, citing the Malegaon blast case, saying the Congress tarnished nationalism by framing innocent Hindus while shielding real terrorists.

Accusing the party of being driven by divisive caste and regional politics, he demanded a public apology, stating such politics has deeply harmed the nation.

The CM also announced free travel for women in the Uttar Pradesh State Transport Corporation and city buses on August 8, 9, and 10. “All sisters will be able to travel free of cost anywhere in Uttar Pradesh during these three days,” he said, assuring hassle-free transport arrangements.

He also announced the commencement of survey work for the Meerut-Haridwar expressway and integration of divisional offices under one roof as key developmental initiatives.

Earlier, addressing a gathering in Saharanpur after inaugurating 15 development projects worth Rs 381 crore, Adityanath said the previous governments indulged in caste-based politics and appeasement, dividing society along caste lines while limiting the benefits of government schemes to a single influential family.

“The BJP’s double-engine government is not a buffalo cart but a bullet train,” he claimed.

Emphasising Saharanpur’s spiritual roots and identifying it as the sacred land of Maa Shakumbhari and Mata Tripuri Bala Sundari, he announced that the construction of Maa Shakumbhari University has been completed and its official inauguration will take place shortly. He also shared plans for the Maa Shakumbhari Corridor and an elevated road to improve all-weather access to the pilgrimage site.

The Chief Minister also said the beautification of the ashram of Jahar Veer Goga, a warrior saint who resisted foreign invaders 900 years ago and attained samadhi, will be carried out.

The ashram has now been transformed into a cultural site, he said, adding that his government is committed to ensuring a balance between development and preservation of cultural heritage.

Under the Smart City Mission, all municipal bodies at the district headquarters across the state will be developed as smart cities, he said.
