Launching a scathing attack on the Opposition, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said the Samajwadi Party, Congress and BSP were sunk in a “quagmire and hate righteousness”.

Referring to the recent visit of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav to Ghazipur to offer condolences to the family of gangster-politician Mukhtar Ansari, who died in prison, Adityanath said the Opposition leaders “read the fatiha for dead criminals but don’t condole the death of Hindus”.

“Your single vote to these parties will give you an identity crisis because these people roam openly with mafia elements and even go to their places at the time of their death to recite the fatiha. They are the same people who never speak a word when a Hindu dies,” Adityanath said, while campaigning for BJP in the Nathaur area of the Bijnor Lok Sabha constituency.

Claiming that his government has acted strongly against mafia and criminals, the chief minister said: “We greet Ram-Ram to the common citizens and Ram Naam Satya to the mafia-criminals.”

In Shamli, which falls under the Kairana Lok Sabha constituency, Adityanath said: “Your single vote to a better party and the government has empowered our farmers to greet people with the Ram-Ram and to the criminals with Ram Naam Satya hai. Your vote to the wrong party in the past led to criminals and mafia being felicitated at the CM’s Lucknow residence. Hamari sarkar ne aise logo ko jahan pahuchana tha, wahan pahuncha diya (Our government has dispatched such elements to the place where they belonged to).”

Invoking the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on the eve of Ram Navami festival, Adityanath said that it was the first time in 500 years that Ram Lalla would celebrate Ram Navami at his temple. “India is the only country where ‘aaradhya’ (God) had to give proof for his birthplace. This situation was caused by the Congress and Samajwadi Party. They tried to jeopardise our faith, but Sanatan Samaj did not agree. It was determined to build a grand temple on the birthplace of Lord Ram,” Adityanath said.

“We achieved success because of Prime Minister Prime Minister Modi,” he said, according to a release issued in Lucknow.

At Shamli, the CM also warned BJP supporters not to be complacent about the party’s victory in the elections “because the Opposition parties are ready to burgle into your confidence for victory”. “We have to be vigilant and put our democratic right of voting in choosing the right party because those in opposition have nothing to do with your concerns and if voted, they will lead to another term of anarchy and dacoity,” he added.
