Four construction companies have offered bids to develop the proposed cricket stadium-cum-sports complex in Lucknow a project of the state government.
The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) had invited the offers in December for pre-qualification to design and build the sports complex. The offers have been received from Larsen & Toubro,Gammon India Limited,Nagarjuna Constructions Company Limited and Shapoorji Pallonji & Co Ltd.
Interestingly,Awas Bandhu,a body of the UP Housing and Development Department, had invited offers for this project several times last year but no firm had turned up.
After failing to find a developer for the project, the government had assigned the task to LDA in December last year.
S B Mishra,LDA joint director (Land and Development),said: It is definitely a good response. We are examining the technical bids of these four firms. If they qualify, financial offers would be invited from them.
According to him,the developer will be finalised soon so that work can be started at the earliest.
The project will come up on 100 acres near Amar Shaheed Path in Arjunganj area and is estimated to cost Rs 313 crore.
The government had announced the project in 2008 soon after the Ambedkar Sports Complex in Gomti Nagar was demolished and its land was used for the Ambedkar memorial.
It was included among the projects to be developed under the Integrated Urban Rejuvenation Plan (IURP).
