An FIR has been lodged against SP MLA Abid Raza and five others for allegedly assaulting a man and threatening him to register his land in the name of one of the legislators supporters.
Badaun police registered the case after conducting an inquiry into the allegations made by complainant Mahesh Prakash on April 18.
The FIR has been lodged at Kotwali police station. The charges include wrongful confinement and voluntarily causing hurt.
Apart from the MLA,the others named in the FIR are Manoj Gupta,Rajendra Mathuria and Rizwan Ahmed,who is a Lekhpal in the Revenue Department. The police said they are supporters of the MLA.
On Monday,the supporters staged a protest in Badaun and blocked road. They claimed that police had wrongly lodged the case against Raza. The blockade was lifted after the police assured the agitators that a fair investigation would be done.
In his complaint,Prakash said the MLAs supporters called him at the Nagarpalika office,where Raza and his supporters asked him to transfer his land. When Prakash refused,they took off his clothes and started beating him. He was also forced to sign some blank papers.
One Guddu Khan has lodged an FIR against Prakash on charges of fraud,alleging that he made an agreement over land with him and denied it later. The police said Guddu claimed he had given Rs 50,000 to Prakash as agreement money. Later,Prakash refused to transfer his land. Guddu Khan is a relative to Rizwan Ahmed.
No arrest has been made in both cases. Superintendent of Police Ratan Kumar Srivastava said investigations are on.
