FIR against Asaram Bapu,guards for assault

The Sant Ravidas Nagar police have lodged an FIR against spiritual leader Asaram Bapu,his unidentified supporters and security guards,allegedly for beating up a local journalist and taking away his camera.

The Sant Ravidas Nagar police have lodged an FIR against spiritual leader Asaram Bapu,his unidentified supporters and security guards,allegedly for beating up a local journalist and taking away his camera. Asaram Bapu had gone to Sant Ravidas Nagar to take part in a pravachan at Ram Lila Maidan on Thursday.

On Friday,mediapersons staged a protest at Gandhi Park and burnt an effigy of the godman,demanding his arrest. Sant Ravidas Nagar SP Ashok Kumar Gupta said the FIR had been lodged on a complaint by a local journalist,Rohit Gupta.

Station Officer of Gopiganj police station Ramesh Choubey said they had recovered the camera from the godman’s aides. The data in the camera had been deleted,Choubey said.
