Where is controversial Bangaldesh author,Taslima Nasreen? People keep guessing about the answer of this question. Whether she is in Delhi or in any Indian town or city,or in some European country,it is difficult to know. But it seems that she has been able to engage with her followers in the virtual world,by the micro-blogging site Twitter.
Taslima has been regularly using the web to argue her case for returning to her own country Bangladesh from where she was forced to leave in 1994 following threats of fundamentalists in the wake of her controversial book Lajja. In her twitter account,the author rues about not being allowed to enter her country even after the return of Sheikh Hasina,considered a moderate,to power in Dhaka.
Khaleda was in power when Taslima was not allowed to enter in her country. Now,Hasina is in power but still Taslima is not allowed to enter her country, she tweeted on Sunday coinciding with Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung Sung Suu Kyis first press meet in over a decade at Yangon,Myanmar,a day after she was released by the junta. Taslima,whose latest book is Nei Kichu Nei,also made a prophecy that Suu Kyi would head the next democratic government of Myanmar.
Suu Kyi is allowed to leave her house. Khaleda was forced to leave her house, was her take as Subcontinent scenario on a day when former Bangladesh prime minister was evicted from her house by the authorities who said that she was illegally staying there. The author too was forced to leave Kolkata in 2007 after riots broke out over her books. Since then she has been moving from one corner of the world to another. Her location on twitter: Home is where the heart is. Currently,she is leaving big apple for rocky mountains because it was the last tweet on Sunday 9 pm from the author through an iphone.
The last controversy that engulfed her was earlier this year when two persons were killed in a police firing following the publication of an article under her name that urged Muslim women to shun wearing burqas. Nasreen,however,clarified that she never wrote any article for any Kannada publication and no permission was taken from her for publication of any of her articles.
The author who identifies herself as writer,physician,feminist,free thinker,human rights activist,secular humanist (humanist free from religion) has 3,409 followers and follows 99 notable among them lyricist Javed Akthar and American comedian Bill Maher.
