Gautam Deb granted bail in land scam case

Deb had been accused of selling two plots undervalue without inviting tenders and causing a loss of Rs 20 crore to exchequer.

A city court Monday granted anticipatory bail to Gautam Deb,former housing minister and CPM leader,in connection with a land scam during his tenure. Deb,who appeared before 4th special court of Bankshall court Monday,was granted bail on a surety of Rs 2,000 In September this year,the CID had filed chargesheet against Deb and 17 others alleging the accused had made an undervalued sale of two plots without inviting tenders and causing a loss of Rs 20 crore to exchequer.
