The Telangana government is preparing to issue family digital cards to every household in the state. The single card will provide medical care services, ration, and other welfare scheme benefits.
On Monday, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced that a single digital card will replace multiple cards currently required for various government schemes. The CM conducted a review of the “one state, one digital card” initiative with senior officials from the state medical, health, and civil supplies departments.
He instructed the officials to conduct a study on the benefits of digital cards, which are already issued in Rajasthan, Haryana, and Karnataka, and submit a comprehensive report. The report should also explain the challenges faced by people when using the cards for multiple services.
Reddy asked the officials to choose one urban area and one village in each Assembly constituency and create a plan to introduce a pilot project for issuing family digital cards. The family digital cards will also contain the health profiles of each family member, which will be helpful in providing medical services to them in the future.
Reddy instructed the officials to allow for updating family details on the card, including adding and removing names as needed. Additionally, a special monitoring mechanism will be established at the district level for overseeing the family digital cards.
